My people are never entirely happy, demanding better homes, medical care, or even better entertainment. They'll walk past garages on their path to their destination. It’s hard being El Presidente. I'm sure it's possible, but probably not when growing an island organically.Īnd as soon as someone leaves their car, it seems like they won't get in another one until they've visited a building. Having seperate road systems isn't viable unless you spend a LOT of time planning which buildings are connected to what roads. They'll then walk to wherever they need to go. They'll drive up to the factory, take the goods to the docks, and then drive out the docks and instantly get out of their car. If your teamsters need to visit a church that's not on your 'industry' road. The problem is that people will just exit their car and walk all the way across the island if they happen to need to go to a location that's not connected the road they're on. In fact, it should be possible to have separate sections on the island that do not have connecting roads - that way people don't commute across the island either. Tl dr Found the source of people's death by inefficiency. Since only the Marketplace building gives out food, you have to build as few as possible since you can't diversify like industries. I had 16 Jewellery workshops, so my Teamsters were transporting a whopping 31 gold per trip from Dock -> Jewellery Factory. This means you HAVE to diversify your industries otherwise you'll start having problems with Teamsters just not transporting anything. Causing an infinite loop of my Teamsters just trying to keep my population fed. So that by the time they'd transported the food there, they needed to go get some more. Unfortunately what it actually meant was that my Teamsters were transporting only 50 food per trip, which would get eaten up very quickly. I had something like 10 Marketplaces on my island I made, thinking that having lots of these Marketplaces would help with efficiency so people didn't have to travel very far to get food. Now it makes sense to do this splitting to share stuff around the island equally otherwise you'd have empty marketplaces, but unfortunately it kills efficiency extremely quickly. So if you have a single Marketplace then they'll transport food in chunks of 500 from the dock, which is quick and awesome, 2 trips to fill a marketplace!

Teamsters split and transport goods depending on how many buildings exist of the destination's type. The ratio of teamsters to industry you'd need is ridiculous, and this is on an island with very few traffic problems because it's so nicely laid out.įinally figured out what was killing my teamsters and docks, and it's not a bug just an innate feature that's not explained anywhere.

(Red are teamsters offices, green are factories and blue are the docks).Ĭombined with the silly pathfinding, it's no wonder that islands start grinding to a halt later on when 150 teamsters can't even service 16 factories. And they've all got like 600+ sitting in their export storage. I have no other industries other than these 16 factories. I have 150 teamsters and they're failing to service a whopping 16 factories, which are all constantly filling up and having to have a worker take the goods to the docks. I've just been doing a bunch of mechanics testing on my livestream, and I thought I'd see what sort of profits I could pump out with a bunch of Jewelry factories just importing gold.
